Pool Closure and Lesson Cancellation

The pool will be closed:

• When the air temperature is below 16°C.
• During heavy rain.
• For 20 minutes following thunder or lightning.

Swimming lessons will run under the shelter:

• When the air temperature is below 16°C.
• When the water temperature is below 75°F.
• During heavy rain. During light rain, the lessons will run in the pool.

Pool Rules 

All patrons must follow the posted Admission Standards for Public Pools by the Region of Waterloo Public Health, available here.  Additionally, the following rules apply;

1. Children under the age of 10 years who are non swimmers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 12 years of age and responsible for their direct supervision at a maximum ratio of 4 swimmers to one parent or guardian.

2. Children under the age of 6 may not be admitted to the swimming pool unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is responsible for their direct supervision, with a maximum of two children per parent or guardian.

3. Children between the ages of 8 and 11 who have passed Swim Kids 4 or met requirements to swim in the deep end are permitted to swim at Beechwood North Pool without parent or guardian. However, an emergency contact form must be completed and parent must be reachable with a phone call and be no more than 5 minutes from the pool.

4. Non swimmers may wear approved life saving devices but they MUST stay in the shallow end under direct supervision of a parent or guardian over the age of 12 (minimally at the edge of the pool and able to render immediate assistance).  Otherwise, non-swimmers MUST be WITHIN ARMS REACH of a parent or guardian in the water and able to render immediate assistance.  Children under the age of ten that are strong swimmers, (passed Swim Kids 4 or met requirements to swim in the deep end) may enter the pool by themselves.

5. All guests attending Beechwood North Pool MUST sign in on the clipboard located beside the exit button in the pool enclosure.

6. NO food allowed on deck.

7. All persons MUST shower before entering the pool.

8. Footwear must be removed before entering the pool area.  Shoe racks are provided.

9. Absolutely NO DIVING OR FLIPS are allowed at Beechwood North Pool. Feet first only.

10. NO RUNNING on the deck.

11. The tot dock is meant for children who cannot touch the bottom, please be courteous.

12. Please NO whipping the balls, slapping the noodles, or standing on flutterboards.  NO sitting on others shoulders.

13. Be respectful of others and all can enjoy their swim at Beechwood North.

14. Maximum 50 swimmers admitted to the pool area.
